Aaaannd my experiment with CyanogenMod is over, because I was unable to connect to my carrier using the most recent builds. So put that down on the bad points list.
After a couple of hours of fumbling, I was able to get my phone flashed back to a more recent version of Android, at which point my carrier pushed down a Lollipop upgrade. Or possibly I just got access to it through the version of Android that I downloaded. Either way, I now have a whole new other set of features to play with now.
