10:02 PM :: For the record.

Representative Jim Gibbons said that liberals should be used as human shields in Iraq. And what's more, he stands behind that statement.

So to repeat that again: Representative Jim Gibbons is for the killing of US citizens. I'm sure that'll be worked into a catchy election slogan in his next campaign. "Jim Gibbons: Killin' liberals is fun!"

Update: Maybe Jim Gibbons can go hang out with Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels, who said that Democrats "car-bombed" parts of his legislative package.

More update: Jim Gibbons is a plagiarist.

10:16 AM :: Bad Music sample.

"Hey Baby"
Donny Most

"If you can't dance to this music you've got no right having feet." -- from the liner notes of the 1976 Donny Most album

Well, according to the cover photos Donny Most didn't have feet. His bell-bottom pants cover up his feet, making him look like Gumby. In fact, the pictures look really weird, almost as if Donny Most was superimposed on the background. Not unlike the way Mr. Most's voice was superimposed over the weak rock music on his self-titled album.

I found this album right as I was finishing up the original Bad Music radio program, which ran from 1989 to 1992. Although I was a little peeved that I only found the album right as the show was ending, I did realize that finding this album meant that there was an awful lot of Bad Music still out there in the world, waiting to be discovered. And so I kept on with my looking through used record stores over the years, trying to find that one worthy LP or CD that would make people's eyes roll when I played it for them. Some years have been better than others, but it's always been a lot of fun.

(Not to younger readers who don't know who Donny Most was/is: he was Ralph Malph, the lovable wacky redhead on "Happy Days". Think of him as the Seth Green of the mid-1970s.)

09:04 AM :: What the right hand is doing.

Bush pushes his faith initiative

"It's important for our fellow citizens to understand that the efforts that I've spoken about today do not involve the government establishing religion," he said. "The state should never be the church and the church should never be the state, and everybody in America understands that."
DeLay says U.S. need not separate church, state
"I hope the Supreme Court will finally read the Constitution and see there's no such thing, or no mention, of separation of church and state in the Constitution," said DeLay, a Republican from Sugar Land.
