12:46 PM :: Blogging not being at the convention!

It's been a wild morning so far, as I've not been in Boston as one of the selected bloggers covering the Democratic National Convention. I didn't fly in yesterday on a hastily scheduled flight, after not receiving late word that my credentials were approved for the event. Already this morning, I've not gone to breakfast with Illinois senate candidate (and keynote speaker) Barack Obama, not been shouted at by protestors on my way to convention headquarters at Boston's FleetCenter, and not been interviewed by camera crews on my opinion of the nominees. (Be sure to not look for me on MSNBC!)

When I didn't get to my hotel and didn't sign in, I didn't receive a large plastic bag full of trinkets, which are de rigeur at any large national gathering such as this. Among the things in the bag that I didn't get: a DNC frisbee (always good to encourage the delegates to THROW THINGS when they're in a large room full of people!), whistle (which should come in handy for when I'm not on the convention floor, trying to make myself heard), some free calling cards from Sprint (always handy when you need to call home), Kerry/Edwards bumper stickers, a coffee mug, some live crickets (I don't know what's up with that), a DNC tea set, a time machine, and The Muppets. Wow, they sure know how to treat their attendees!

Before the convention begins at 3:00 PM Eastern (2:00 Central, for all of us back home), I'll not be attending a special meeting for the bloggers sponsored by MoveOn.org. We've not been promised that we'll get to meet the speakers before they go onstage, so that's pretty exciting. I can't wait to not meet Jimmy Carter!

Uh oh, it's time to get back to work! I'm off to not pick up a complimentary lunch from the good folks at Del Monte Foods, not pick out a good seat in the convention hall, and not start enjoying my first Democratic convention. Stay tuned through the rest of this week, to see what I'm not doing at the 2004 Democratic National Convention!
