07:00 AM :: The search for the Lost Chord!

Oh, so here's the OTHER big thing that happened at ukulele class Monday night: we finally learned how to do an E chord!

[E chord diagram]

It's a bit of a stretch for the fingers, but I'm working on it. But you know what this means? This means that I have an actual E chord that I can play in all those songs written out for guitar! There's always at least a couple E chords in the Second Half songs that we play Monday nights after class, and the only thing I've had in the past to offer was an E7. Not exactly the same. So yeah, I'm feeling pretty good that we FINALLY got this one.

Speaking of Old Town School, I was thinking of supplementing my musical knowledge by taking their music theory class while uke class is on hiatus. But I'm just worried that the class, like just about every other thing at the Old Twon School, is going to be geared to the guitar player. Although there's nothing in the class description explicitly stating "GUITAR PLAYERS ONLY," the school's obviously going to cater to the instrument that the vast majority of its students are going to be playing, right?

Well, I got about 4 days to make up my mind. It would be nice to know some of the theory behind the chord structures and all that stuff, so I think I'll probably do it. So that'll keep me busy for the next 8 weeks.

06:28 AM :: More Marriage Protection.

Okay. Apparently some of you out there didn't quite understand that there's a real live Marriage Protection Week going on. As I mentioned at the beginning of the week, Prez'dent Bush signed the proclamation last week, making this week Marriage Protection Week. So hurry up and protect your marriage, before it's too late! Like THESE women are doing!

Again, doesn't it warm your heart to see the sacred institution of marriage being protected? I know I feel warm all over. But that may be due to something else.
