Fair warning: next Thursday, September 4th, you'll want to listen to WFMU's program "Aircheck", to hear Frank Zappa doing some DJ'ing in 1968. From the WFMU Website: In 1968, Frank Zappa was one freaky Mother, and San Francisco station KSAN was pioneering some serious freeform radio. Tonight, Aircheck presents a full hour of their meeting, as Zappa sits in with the Freeform granddaddy of us all, KSAN Poobah Tom Donahue. Dynamic to say the least, their conversation gets wily & contentious at times, and always iconoclastic. Listen as Zappa spins Ewan MacColl sea chanteys and greasy doo wop faves, and Donahue continually corrects him on his knowledge. A relic from the days when the DJ was every bit as lofty and mythic as the Rock Star, tonight's Aircheck is a rare Clash of the Titans. So if you like your conversations wily, contentious and iconoclastic, you'll want to tune in.

I've linked to Engrish oh so many times before, but you really need to go see what they've been posting all this week. It was Controversy Week at the site, and I had no idea the Japanese were so hateful.
