09:43 AM :: Phineas don't lie (much)!
Hooray! A mere six months after Phineas first reported on seeing two strange men in Speedos doing yoga on Chicago public access television, we saw our second glimpse of these guys last night. And now we have some facts!
The show is apparently called "W L Lillard's Straight Talk", and airs weeknights on the Showcase channel (not CAN TV, as was previously surmised). The host, W L Lillard, is a real Renaissance man; he's the head of his own TV production company, Star Planet TV, he's a yoga teacher, and he runs his own detective agency! Sort of a real-life Buckaroo Banzai (but without the rocket car).
So on last night's show, W L and his Speedo buddy had on the show three "students" (if you catch my meaning) who talked for the better part of an hour about nutrition and the yoga lifestyle, blah blah blah.
So there was really only about 5 minutes of actual yoga! Fortunately we taped the show, so we can share with you:
W L shows the students how it's done
Student #1 stands on her head
Student #2 does some funky leg stretch
Student #3 just flexes a bit
In addition to the great set, the program also had some good local commercials, in the true spirit of public access. One that was pretty disturbing showed a man and woman in bed. The woman asks, "Do you have protection?" The guy says, "I almost forgot!" ... and turns on his car alarm. Yes, it was a commercial for car alarms. Haw!
Well, anyway. So there you have it. There's yoga happening every weeknight on Chicago public access (or at least most of them), and Phineas told us all about it. If only we had listened to him! Perhaps we wouldn't be in the mess that we are today.
