12:34 PM :: You're a Poser! A Poser! A big, fat Poser!

This week's MP3 is a rare EP track from a band called Those Melvins, who were really hot shit about 10 years ago. They had one album, "Elmer Season," which you can't hardly find anymore. I saw them at the 1991 SXSW festival, and they just killed with songs like "Wasted Hippies", "I Feel Like I'm In The 70s Again", and this track. For a while, it seemed like every zine in the coutnry had a story on Those Melvins.

Whatever happened to them? I'm guessing they broke up a couple of years after their one album (and a couple of vinyl releases), and everybody went their separate ways. Their lead guitarist, Brad Robinson, has a solo career now. Their drummer apparently writes articles for a New England paper. And that's about all I've found out! Amazing that nobody even remembers them anymore.

So have a listen to this track, and take a few seconds to reflect on the fleeting nature of fame. Who's popular these days that we won't even remember 10 years from now? One can only speculate...
