05:48 AM :: Altria!

We interrupt this blog for a breaking news item. The shareholders of Philip Morris, that place that makes cigarettes, recently voted to change the company's name to Altria, a name that has the advantage of not being associated with lung cancer. (Yet.)

Have you seen the new Altria logo? I don't really like it. Here's the logo:

As I mentioned a while back, all's you gotta do is move the "l" to the end of the word, and bingo! You've got what Philip Morris doesn't want you to think about:

For those who think they smell something odd in the name change, perhaps another revised logo would be appropriate:

And for those who prefer a more rugged, outdoors-y look for their conglomerates, how about a nautical theme?

But really, why should they change to a new logo? I think a simple, retro look would suit Altria just fine:

So spread the word. Cancer no longer equals Philip Morris. Cancer equals Altria. Pass it on.
